School Closure Update The State advised local school districts to extend the school closures through May 1, 2020, due to the COVID-19 pandemic. While we certainly miss our students, their safety, and the health of our community, remains of critical importance. All Osceola schools will be closed through May 1, 2020 with online distance learning taking place during this time. Grab-and-Go Meals To ensure that students have nutritious meals while away from school, the district's School Nutrition Services Department will provide FREE breakfast and lunch to children 18 years and under during the extended school closure between March 23 through April 15, 2020, at the following sites: • Michigan Avenue Elementary - 2015 S. Michigan Avenue in St. Cloud • Lakeview Elementary - 2900 5th Street in St. Cloud • Ventura Elementary - 275 Waters Edge Drive in Kissimmee • Denn John Middle - 2001 Denn John Lane in Kissimmee • Central Avenue Elementary - 500 W. Columbia Avenue in Kissimmee • Osceola High - 420 S. Thacker Avenue in Kissimmee • Kissimmee Middle - 2410 Dyer Boulevard in Kissimmee • Sunrise Elementary - 1925 Ham Brown Road in Kissimmee (Poinciana) • KOA Elementary - 5000 Koa Street in Kissimmee (Poinciana) • Deerwood Elementary - 3701 Marigold Avenue in Kissimmee (Poinciana) • Westside K-8 School - 2551 Westside Boulevard in Kissimmee • Cameron Preserve • Narcoossee Middle - 2701 N. Narcoossee Road in St. Cloud • Liberty High - 4250 Pleasant Hill Road in Kissimmee (Poinciana) • Holopaw Church Meals will be available for pickup between 9:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. at each location. Families can go to school/site nearest them to pick up food even if they do not attend that school. Families will drive up in the bus loops, and they will be handed meals through the vehicle window. Lynx will begin offering complimentary transportation to parents and students who ride on their current routes to get to the nearest stop to the feeding sites. Parents must be accompanied by their child to receive the free fare. Bridge Prep Academy Internet Safety Guidelines Remote Learning: It is imperative that students are in an environment conducive to learning. The area in which students are receiving information from their teachers online and completing assignments should be:  Quiet: The area specifically set up for the student should be peaceful and quiet. Televisions, radios, and phones are turned off. Remove any other objects/toys that can be a distraction for the duration of the scheduled learning time.  Comfortable: Although laying in a bed or on a couch can be comfortable, students minimize motivation, engagement, and focus when in these two positions. Students need to be sitting at a desk/table, on a chair, in the upright position. In this way, you mimic a classroom environment which increases focus.  Monitored: Parents/guardians should ensure that students are engaged and completing assignments. Check on them periodically while they are online. Monitoring not only keeps students on task, but it also ensures that students are using the internet appropriately (using educational sites, kid-friendly language, not engaged in cyberbullying, etc.).  Dress code: In the event that the student is completing assignments in a high traffic area where other individuals are constantly walking by and in view of the tablet, computer, iPad’s camera, please ensure that everyone has dressed appropriately (no undergarments or pajamas). Please also make sure appropriate language is being used at all times. No yelling, cursing, or vulgar conversations. Internet Safety: Online access also comes with risks, like inappropriate content, cyberbullying, and online predators. Using apps and websites where children interact, predators may pose as a child or teen looking to make a new friend. They might urge the child to exchange personal information, such as address and phone number, or encourage children to call them, seeing their phone number via caller ID. Parents should be aware of what their children see and hear on the Internet, who they meet, and what they share about themselves. Talk to your children, use tools to protect them, and keep an eye on their activities. Basic guidelines to share with your children for safe online use:  Follow the family rules, and those set by the Internet service provider.  Only answer video calls that were set up by their teacher or a trusted adult  Never post or trade personal pictures.  Never reveal personal information, such as an address, phone number, or school name or location.  Use only a screen name and don't share passwords (other than with parents).  Never agree to get together in person with anyone met online without parent approval and/or supervision.  Never respond to a threatening email, message, post, or text.  Always tell a parent or other trusted adult about any communication or conversation that was scary or hurtful. Basic guidelines for parental supervision:  Spend time online together to teach your children to appropriate online behavior.  Keep the computer in a common area where you can watch and monitor its use, not in individual bedrooms. Monitor any time spent on smartphones or tablets.  Bookmark kids' favorite sites for easy access.  Check your credit card and phone bills for unfamiliar account charges.  Take your child seriously if he or she reports an uncomfortable online exchange. Cyber Bullying: Cyberbullying happens through sending, posting, or sharing negative, harmful, false, or mean content about someone else. Cyberbullying also involves sharing personal or private information about someone without their permission causing them embarrassment. It is important that students are encouraged to practice positive online conduct and to have a “think before you post” mentality. Students should report any suspicions or harmful online activity to a responsive adult, and follow the student code of conduct in regards to cyberbullying practices. Cyberbullying involves the use of technology or digital devices such as cell phones, desktop/laptop computers and tablets. Cyberbullying also includes:  Social Media- Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, and Twitter  Short Message Service (SMS)- text message, instant message, apps, direct message  Email Some cyberbullying includes:  Lies  Purposely sharing false information  Posting hurtful pictures or videos  Posting or saying mean things about someone race, or physical characteristic  Victims of cyberbullying might feel more powerless since it is very easy to distribute information online and very hard to retrieve and remove what is already out there.  If left unchecked, the effects of cyberbullying can lead to extreme stress and depression, and students who are victims may feel drawn to self-harm as a result of their experiences. While some might consider cyberbullying as “bullying lite”, when the internet is added to the equation, it can be especially painful because of the access the aggressor has on the victim. School administrators and student services will follow corrective and supportive strategies as needed to ensure a safe and positive learning environment for all our students and families.

Educational Network Parents and Students Guide Educational Networks Quick Parent & Student Guide School Website link: https://www.bridgepreposceola.com/ Bulldog Parents and Families, BridgePrep Academy staff is working diligently in preparing for the possibility that school officials could order school closures at any time, we have a plan that ensures that students will continue learning from home if the need arises. Our plan is for students to communicate with teachers online and through the educational portal, Educational Networks, in the event, that the school is ordered to be closed. Currently students, teachers, and families are all doing well and are healthy. We are closely monitoring the COVID-19, commonly known as coronavirus, and paying attention to information from the Florida Department of Health and the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC). BridgePrep has been taking the following measures: • Extra cleaning at high-frequency contact areas • Adequately stocking hygiene supplies • Counselors available to students with anxiety about coronavirus This is an ever-changing situation. We will work closely together to provide you with updates on the information as it comes available to us. We will formulate a plan of action that will ensure safety, on-going education/teaching to all students in our schools or remotely. Please be sure to complete the survey sent from the school. This survey will inform us of the technology our students have access to use. Education is key! And education cannot stop in the case of extended time out of school. Students will still receive educational opportunities following the protocol from the Florida Department of Health and Florida Department of Education by providing a technology remote access to learning via our school website and the technology programs students have been using daily. A Message from FDOE: UPDATE on Protocols for prevention of CORVID 19 Please be advise that there requirement that must be followed as we continue to take a proactive approach to properly prepare for prevention of CORVID 19. The FDOE has sent an update memo related to protocols needing to be followed. ll fieltrips are cancelled effective immediate until further notice. This includes In-County and Out of County Trips All Traveling Support Personnel are to remain at the Main and Central Designated Office. · Anyone (students/faculty/staff/etc.) who go on foreign travel, to any country, must self-isolate for 14 days upon return. · Anyone (students/faculty/staff/etc.) who go on a cruise, anywhere, must self-isolate for 14 days upon return. · There should be no mass gatherings, which are defined by the CDC as “1,000-25,000 people, but the practical application is any gathering that would strain local resources.” We leave it to your discretion for events with less than 1,000 people. · If a student/faculty/staff has been exposed to a person with confirmed COVID-19, and that student/faculty/staff has been in a classroom, we still recommend that you NOT close the school/college/program, but we do recommend that you clear the classroom and take necessary steps to sanitize the room.
